Cook and Cook Assistant

Brief description of my work...

As a Kitchen Helper I do lots and lots of things all around the kitchen, but my main responsibility is that of cleaning and keeping the kitchen in order (which is very important with so many Chefs around!).

 

What I do...

  • Perform basic tasks of food preparation, such as washing, peeling and cutting vegetables

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients (which also involves weighing and measuring)

  • Assist other kitchen staff as needed

  • Keep the kitchen clean and sanitised at all times

  • Wash table tops, floors, utensils and equipment which is used for food preparation (this can be done by hand or by operating machinery)

  • Unpack and storing supplies in refrigerators and other storage areas

  • Dispose of garbage

  • Ensure good food hygiene practice

 

To do my job well i have to have...

  • Problem-solving skills

  • An eye for detail

  • Ability to deal well with pressure

  • Ability to multi-task (doing more than one thing at the same time!)

Brief description of my work...

My role as Commis Chef requires that I work in different sections while learning about the day to day activities of the kitchen (since I still have lots to learn!).

 

What I do...

  • Perform basic tasks of food preparation

  • Perform basic tasks of organisation in the kitchen

  • Support all other Chefs in food preparation and production

  • Ensure that food is prepared on time

  • Carry out general day to day cleaning duties

  • Ensure good food hygiene practice

 

To do my job well i have to have...

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Ability to deal well with pressure
